Chemical Peel in Manchester

Medical-grade acid treatments applied to accelerate skin cell turnover, targeting dullness, uneven pigmentation, congestion, and fine lines across a range of depths.

All treatments at Revitalised Aesthetics are carried out by Le Xu, a Registered Nurse and Independent Nurse Prescriber. Every booking begins with a 45-minute consultation to assess suitability, discuss contraindications, and obtain informed consent. Outcomes vary; no results are guaranteed.

Consultation

A 45-minute private consultation precedes every booking. We assess suitability, map the face, and agree a written plan before any treatment is confirmed.

Downtime

Most clients return to normal activity the same day. Any localised swelling or redness typically settles within 24–72 hours.

Aftercare

A review is offered at the clinically appropriate interval for each protocol, with photographs taken under standardised lighting to document progress.

Common Questions

What clients typically ask.

Answers below are summaries of widely accepted clinical practice. Your specific plan is always confirmed in consultation.

What is a medical-grade chemical peel?

A chemical peel involves the controlled application of an acid solution to exfoliate the outer layers of the skin and stimulate regeneration of fresher, more uniform skin below. Medical-grade peels use higher active-ingredient concentrations than retail products and require professional application.

What types of peel are available?

Superficial peels use alpha-hydroxy acids such as glycolic, lactic, or mandelic acid, and suit most skin types. Beta-hydroxy peels using salicylic acid are particularly effective for oily and congested skin. Medium-depth peels using TCA reach the upper dermis and address more significant pigmentation, sun damage, or fine lines.

Will my skin visibly peel?

Not always. Superficial peels often produce only mild flaking for 2 to 4 days. Medium peels can produce more pronounced sheet-like shedding for 5 to 7 days. The visible peel is a byproduct, not the mechanism; biological turnover continues whether shedding is visible or not.

How should I prepare?

Before medium-depth peels, a 2 to 4-week pre-conditioning programme using prescription retinoid and antioxidant topicals is typically recommended. Sun avoidance for 2 weeks before treatment is essential, particularly for clients with higher Fitzpatrick skin types.

Who should avoid chemical peels?

Peels are not appropriate during pregnancy, over active skin infection or cold sores, within 6 months of isotretinoin use, or in certain higher Fitzpatrick skin types for medium or stronger peels without careful assessment. Consultation establishes suitability and peel type.
