Polynucleotides in Manchester
A next-generation injectable derived from purified DNA fragments that stimulates fibroblast activity, restores skin hydration, and improves damaged or lax skin at the cellular level.
All treatments at Revitalised Aesthetics are carried out by Le Xu, a Registered Nurse and Independent Nurse Prescriber. Every booking begins with a 45-minute consultation to assess suitability, discuss contraindications, and obtain informed consent. Outcomes vary; no results are guaranteed.
A 45-minute private consultation precedes every booking. We assess suitability, map the face, and agree a written plan before any treatment is confirmed.
Most clients return to normal activity the same day. Any localised swelling or redness typically settles within 24–72 hours.
A review is offered at the clinically appropriate interval for each protocol, with photographs taken under standardised lighting to document progress.
What clients typically ask.
Answers below are summaries of widely accepted clinical practice. Your specific plan is always confirmed in consultation.
What are polynucleotides?
Polynucleotides (PN or PDRN) are highly purified DNA fragments derived from salmon sperm, processed to remove all proteins and reduce immunogenicity. Injected into the skin, they stimulate fibroblasts to produce collagen, elastin, and hyaluronic acid, and promote cellular repair and angiogenesis.
What conditions respond to polynucleotide treatment?
Clinical evidence supports their use for improving skin quality and laxity, reducing fine lines, accelerating post-procedure recovery, and improving thin, damaged, or sun-exposed skin. There is also emerging evidence for use in hair loss, under-eye hollowing, and acne scarring.
How is this different from Profhilo or skin boosters?
Profhilo and skin boosters deliver hydration and some collagen stimulation through hyaluronic acid. Polynucleotides work at the cellular signalling level, promoting DNA repair and stimulating fibroblast proliferation directly. The two approaches are complementary and are often combined in a sequenced plan.
How many sessions are needed?
A typical protocol is 3 to 4 sessions spaced 2 to 4 weeks apart. Results are cumulative and continue to develop after the course completes as new collagen matures. Maintenance at 6 to 12 months is standard.
Are there any contraindications?
Polynucleotides are contraindicated in clients with fish allergy due to the salmon-derived origin, in autoimmune conditions, and during pregnancy and breastfeeding. A full medical history is taken at consultation to assess suitability.
